The October Blog Tag by Oh Luna: Learn More About Me

A big thank you to Lisa over at Oh Luna for creating The October blog tag, designed to help us learn a bit more about the blogger behind the blog. So, carry on reading to see how boring I really am!
To play along just copy all my questions and answers and then rewrite them with your own and tag a couple of people to play along.

I tag: @Gaa Gaa Land, Becca @Becca Blogs It Out, Kate @ The Mum Conundrum, Nicole @Tales from Mamaville, Bec @Twinning at Home, and The Wandering Pram if you’d like to join in?

What is your favourite colour?

What did you do today?

For the most part, I mainly concentrated really hard on having a baby. I then googled a LOT, drank crappy decaff coffee and sat really still as my 20 month old son James built a Brio track on my legs.

Where are you currently?

In overdue pregnancy limbo

What is your star sign?

Taurus! Which apparently according to Google…Taurus is the sign that harvests the fruits of labour

The universe is mocking me!

Cake or Ice cream?

Both, I’m pregnant.

Frozen or Moana?

Neither, I’m a terrible person. My boys will probably be bullied.

A night in or a night out?

Night out? I have two (three, if he ever decides to make an appearance) what I like to affectionately call little ‘leeches’ that would need to be removed from my personal space and put into somebody else’s care for the night. Three male leeches aged 4 and under…form an orderly queue people!!

Home cooked meal or takeaway?

In my opinion you just can’t beat spending your time and energy whipping up a delicious home cooked meal for your kids to moan about and/or throw all over the floor.

Where did I put that takeaway menu?

Pineapple on pizza or no pineapple on pizza?

At this moment in time, a BIG yes to pineapple on everything! I need all the Bromelain I can get!

Books or films?

I’m a book lover, always have been. But, recently I just don’t have the time to read. You can usually find me watching a Netflix film with the hubby instead.

Autumn or Spring?

Ooh this is a toughy, I love them both equally. Spring for the promise of new life, longer days and seeing the green creep in, and Autumn for the changing leaves, celebrations and cosying in front of the log burner.

Flowers or chocolates?

Flowers, I love having flowers around the house.

Full fat or diet coke?

Diet, it’s too sweet otherwise.

Phone or laptop?

Phone, but I will invest in a laptop soon!

*readers, this is what’s known as kidding oneself, as I am wearing a bra thats older than my children’s combined ages, and we have a leaking roof and a imminent baby to pay for*

**we have NOT purchased a baby, it was a merely a figure of speech**

What is your current favourite TV series?

Definitely 100%, In the Night Garden on CBeebies.

Once I’ve waved Iggle Piggle off as he sails his boat off into the land of nod…it’s bedtime for the boys!! #HappyDance

What is your favourite thing to do in October?

Have a baby!! (OK, so I’m a little preoccupied)

Kick up leaves, collect conkers, go pumpkin picking and get involved in Halloween activities.

What is your current food to crave?

Really juicy fruit…mostly mango, pineapple and melon.

Oh, and erm ALL THE CHOCOLATE!! But not until after 8pm for some reason.

*denial alert – I know perfectly well it’s so that I don’t have to share it with the boys*

Do you have any piercings or tattoos?

No tattoos and I only have my ears pierced, but then again it’s been that long since I wore earrings this may no longer be true.

Are you an introvert or extrovert?

An introvert, yet I blog so maybe I’m not as introverted as I once thought I was?

What is your all time favourite Halloween film?

The Poltergeist films still scare me!

Name your top 3 favourite artists/bands.

Ocean Colour Scene, The Prodigy and Kate Bush.

I have a somewhat eclectic taste in music that my hubby likes to entitle ‘crap’…much like my taste in men obviously!!

Have you got any plans for Halloween?

Yep, there are some lovely activities I want to take the boys to, but everything is on hold until number 3 arrives as I’m incapable of walking further than the next room.

First stop will be Halloween monster cupcakes, I’ve already got the grusome bits and bobs in to make them with, but have run out of energy.

Do you have any fears?

It’s a bit morbid, but I’m scared of becoming ill and not seeing my children grow up. Watching my Dad bravely fight Acute Myeloid Leaukaemia, before finally losing his battle last year really hit home. I’m classed as a ‘geriatric mother’ of advanced maternal age according to my maternity notes (think Meghan Markle, but without the youthful looks, money or Princely hubby) and I am very aware of how old my children would be if I only made it to a certain age. I’m generally a positive person but this is always a niggle at the back of my mind.

Do you believe in life after love?

Is this a Cher song?

Do you have any children? (or animals you treat like your fur babies)

I have two boys on the outside, one on the inside. We also have 4 hens, and a cat called Tilly.

What do you want for your future?

Health and happiness for me and my family.

Be honest, why did you start blogging?

I only started a couple of months ago. I had just closed down my Etsy business for maternity leave, as I was struggling to find the time to work on orders, once the boys were in bed I was too tired to start working. I’ve often considered blogging as I enjoy writing but I’ve always been a bit scared of making that leap. It seemed to be the perfect time, especially as it gave me another creative outlet to focus on. I did a bit of research and jumped onto WordPress as it seemed the most user friendly (I’m not tech savvy) and could be run from an app…see earlier comment about complete lack of laptop. I decided to blog about what I know and happily fell into the ‘Mummy Blogger’ box.

What is your biggest achievement so far?

In my short time blogging I’ve had a post picked up by The Daily Mail and from there it went viral. It was great unexpected exposure but also a steep learning curve for a newbie! Unless you’re a seasoned celeb, it’s weird to see your face plastered all over the tinterweb.

What are your ambitions with your blog?

I’m working on increasing my audience, and building a following over my social media platforms right now. I’ve actually forgotten how much hard work is involved when you start from scratch (I had over 5k followers on my Etsy business Facebook page). I’d like to start working with other bloggers, collaborate with brands for sponsored posts and reviews and EVENTUALLY make a small income to contribute to our family expenses.

If there is one thing you’d like to change about your blog, what would it be?

There are probably loads of improvements and changes I need to make, I’m learning on my feet. I also do everything via my phone which isn’t the best idea if I want to expand and grow it like a small business.

Have you achieved any blog goals you set out to do this year?

I’ve been pleased to see my numbers move in the right direction, especially my DA.

Where do you want to be in 10 years time?

I’ll be 48 with 3 boys entering the hormone fuelled teenage years…I’ll be happy if I’ve managed to survive!

What is your dream holiday?

I’d like to have one completely relaxing luxury holiday with the hubby, no leeches (at the moment we feel like we need a holiday again the minute we get back, but that’s all part of the fun of littles). But, when they’re older I’d like to take them travelling and explore different cultures.

If you had an entire day to yourself what would you do?

Sleep! But, then I’d wake up and feel guilty that I’d wasted the day! I struggle with this a lot, I’m permanently exhausted but always feel like I’m wasting life if I catch up on sleep or have a pj day with the boys.

That’s why I’m not so patiently waiting for/wishing for/and googling how to get this baby to come out ASAP.

And, there we have it! Some 40 odd questions but I hope you found out something new about me!
